THE FLOWER IN THE COURTYARD - plus comments from The Gnostic Gospels Group

THE FLOWER IN THE COURTYARD

plus comments from the Gnostic Gospels Group - Facebook

1

the deer hunter does not

see the mountains

the ambitious man does not

see men

*

lusting for societal position

I did not see

the flower in the courtyard

I hurried past my own heart                ***

*
2
The spring flowers, the autumn moon;
Summer breezes, winter snow.
If useless things do not clutter your mind,
You have the best days of your life.                               **
*
When you realise what the real is,
You will see we pass from one husk
to another
Like travellers stopping for
a night’s lodging. **
*
Only listen to the sound of
pines and cedars
When no wind stirs.
*
There are ten thousand paths to dawn
At the peak of the silver mountain.     ***
*
**  verse by Mumon
*** poem  by WGM
compilation and poem  (C)2015 by W.G. Milne

A NARROW PATH THRU HEAVEN, A 4 WAY STREET THRU HELL

We're re-doing this song in the studio now.
Though it's going to be pretty hard to beat this
live version.

SNOW FALLING LIGHT

Snow falling light
drifting bright as feathers
limbs of the trees
seem to gleam with eyedrops
    of water

dancing on a slight invisible
    breeze
the day breathed spring

even the cars passing in the
    wet
drive in hopeful peace.

MUGGING MYSELF

Frank sat on the stump above his burrow and rubbed some snow in his face. His head felt hot, and he had boiled his brain to the tune of several million lost brain cells the night before... all on his own.
Sitting by himself was getting to be a dangerous place to be. He didn't have to go outside to get mugged.
He was quite capable of mugging himself...right where he was sitting.
And this was often what happened --- depending on how many ounces of overproof rum he had on hand. And since the bar was just right across the Main Lane, he tended to have quite a bit of the stuff.
