EGO ANNIHILATION IN THE QUEST TO KNOWING

(1) The heroic journey is a voluntary one.

(2) We call it "CRUCIFIXION" or "THE CHAPEL OF THE BLACK HAND" or "THE DARK NIGHT OF THE SOUL"
because ego annihilation is involved.

3.  GNOSTIC KNOWING is concerned with attaining CHRIST CONSCIOUSNESS  by becoming One with Christ. Becoming
One with Christ involves sacrifice and self-denial. It necessitates
a voluntary assumption of ego annihilation.

4 In the GRAIL QUEST, the knight must pass a night in The Chapel of the Black Hand, a voluntary assumption of suffering.

(4) No one will embrace the Universe if there is anything else
      to hold on to.

      Embracing the Universe is a voluntary assumption of
       crucifixion.


(5)   Being nailed to the flowering tree of the Father
        at the spine, the axis of the world - as a fruit
        of the Knowledge of the Father -  this is crucifixion
         nonetheless, although a voluntary one.
